The scientific use of post-treatment equipment is crucial. To achieve ideal dew point performance while ensuring stable equipment operation, this article will summarize six key usage precautions using a heatless module adsorption dryer as an example.
4. Do not adjust the regenerated gas volume arbitrarily.
The heatless modular desiccant dryer uses pressure-variable regeneration. It throttles and depressurizes part of the dried product gas, further lowering its relative humidity. This gas then flows through the wet adsorbent, absorbs moisture, and exits the machine, completing regeneration. If upstream air compressor pressure remains steady, the adjusted regeneration gas flow stays constant, delivering a good dew point. Do not blindly reduce regeneration gas—this worsens the outlet dew point. Increasing it also wastes compressed air.
As an exception, if the dryer operates at low flow for an extended period, contact Ipsos after-sales personnel for guidance on reducing regeneration gas consumption. Distributors and end-users must remember to readjust the regeneration gas upward after the compressor returns to rated flow.
5. Do not adjust the cycle period arbitrarily.
The heatless module desiccant dryer operates on shallow-bed adsorption with rapid inflow and outflow. An overly long adsorption cycle can supersaturate the adsorbent, cause incomplete desorption during regeneration, leave high residual moisture, reduce adsorption capacity, and progressively worsen the outlet dew point. If you detect this condition, take measures to fully regenerate the desiccant, then set a reasonable cycle time based on actual operating conditions.
6. Before entering the equipment, remove oil and liquid water.
Install a refrigerated dryer upstream of the module desiccant dryer whenever possible. Small amounts of condensate have little effect, but large amounts will first reduce adsorption capacity and sharply raise the outlet dew point. Water soaking also weakens adsorbent strength and activity, and in severe cases may crack or pulverize the material.
Oil deposits form a film on the adsorbent surface, greatly reducing adsorption performance and making recovery difficult. Therefore, remove oil and other contaminants before the air enters the module desiccant dryer.
